Sagamu LG Chairman Mourns Victims Of Fatal Road Crash Involving Anthony Joshua

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has expressed deep sorrow over a fatal road accident involving world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, which occurred on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway within the Makun axis of Sagamu Local Government Area.

The tragic incident reportedly claimed the lives of two male foreign nationals, who died on the spot after the vehicle conveying them rammed into a stationary truck while travelling from Lagos to Sagamu. The remains of the deceased have since been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu.

Anthony Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were rescued from the scene and rushed to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
In a statement issued on behalf of the government and people of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Odulate commiserated with the families of the deceased, describing the incident as heartbreaking and unfortunate.

He prayed that God grants the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while also wishing those injured in the accident, including Anthony Joshua, a quick and full recovery.

The Sagamu LG Chairman further used the occasion to reiterate the need for caution and responsible driving, especially during the festive period. He urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving on highways.

Ogbeni Odulate also called on relevant security and road safety agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in monitoring major roads within Sagamu and its environs, stressing the importance of preventing avoidable road tragedies.
