The candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Oluwadara Kehinde, has unveiled a people-centred development agenda focused on youth empowerment, agriculture, entrepreneurship, education and economic opportunities.

According to a statement from his media office made available to journalists, Kehinde said representation must go beyond occupying a seat at the National Assembly, stressing that the mandate should be used to attract opportunities, influence policies and champion issues directly affecting constituents.

A major focus of his agenda is youth development. Kehinde said he would seek to expand access to skills acquisition, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, digital and IT skills training, as well as government intervention programmes for young people across Yewa North and Imeko-Afon.

“As a youth myself, I believe young Nigerians should not only be mobilised during elections but should also have a voice in governance and decision-making. Youth representation should be about more than age; it should be about bringing fresh ideas, energy and opportunities for the next generation,” he said.

Kehinde also identified agriculture and grassroots economic development as key priorities, noting that farming remains a major source of livelihood in the constituency.

He proposed advocating for improved agricultural opportunities, modern farming practices, processing and value addition, while supporting small businesses through access to grants, training and intervention programmes.

Education and human capital development also feature prominently in his agenda, with emphasis on vocational training, digital education, IT training, and practical skills for young people.

He also pledged to promote regular engagement with constituents, saying the concerns of residents across Yewa North and Imeko-Afon would remain central to his legislative priorities.

At the National Assembly, Kehinde said he would deploy legislative advocacy, oversight and constituency engagement to push issues relating to infrastructure, economic development, youth opportunities and rural welfare.

“The people must not only hear from their representative during elections; they must feel represented throughout the tenure,” he said.

Kehinde said his vision is centred on having a lawmaker who will use the office to attract development, open doors for constituents, amplify their voices and create sustainable opportunities for the people of Yewa North and Imeko-Afon.
