Sagamu LG Warns Public Against Illegal Sale Of State-Owned Land

Sagamu Local Government has issued a strong warning to members of the public against the unauthorized sale and illegal occupation of a state-owned rubber plantation located beside the Ogun State Low-Cost Housing Estate along the Sagamu–Ikenne Road, near the NYSC Orientation Camp.

The local government disclosed that it received credible reports indicating that some individuals, allegedly posing as land agents, have been unlawfully selling portions of the land to unsuspecting members of the public. Following the reports, the management of Sagamu Local Government conducted an on-the-spot assessment visit to the site, where it was observed that fencing activities had already commenced on parts of the property.

Clarifying the status of the land, the local government stated that the property belongs exclusively to the Ogun State Government and has been officially earmarked for the development of the New Sagamu Government Reserved Area (GRA). It emphasized that no authorization has been given by the government for the sale, allocation, or transfer of the land to any individual or group.

The council therefore cautioned the public to refrain from engaging in any form of transaction relating to the land, stressing that such dealings are fraudulent and will not be recognized by the government. It further warned that anyone found encroaching on, developing, or conducting transactions on the land would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Sagamu Local Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting government property and safeguarding residents from fraudulent land transactions.
