2 min readIn a sweeping decision, the Lagos State Government has dissolved all Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the state, citing the need for a fresh start and greater community engagement.
As part of this sweeping reform, the Millennium Housing Estate Community Development Association in Ijokoro, Ijaye, recently held a new election to select its leadership. The results of this election have just been announced, reflecting a mix of continuity and change within the community.
CHAIRMAN
In the race for the Chairman position, Allinson Adekunle secured victory with an impressive 207 votes, while Adeolu Ogunbanjo garnered 105 votes.
VICE CHAIRMAN 1
The competition for Vice Chairman 1 was closely fought, with Mr. Ogunleye securing 132 votes, while Christopher Otabor emerged victorious with 179 votes.
VICE-CHAIRMAN 2
Ogunbiyi Seliat had a smooth ride to victory for Vice-Chairman 2, as they were unopposed and received 277 votes.
GENERAL SECRETARY
Abiola Mohammed triumphed in the race for General Secretary with 193 votes, defeating Olusegun Awe-Obe, who received 116 votes.
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
Akinjide Oluwadamilare was uncontested for the position of Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) and received 291 votes.
ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY
Makinde Adeniyi also faced no opposition for the position of Assistant General Secretary and secured 299 votes.
TREASURER
Fadodun Adedapo claimed the position of Treasurer, unopposed, with 293 votes.
FINANCIAL SECRETARY
Muyideen Adekunle faced no opposition for the position of Financial Secretary and had 292 votes.
SOCIAL SECRETARY
Mrs. Ewaade Omotayo was unopposed for the role of Social Secretary and secured 282 votes.
WELFARE
The Welfare position saw a competitive race, with Jamil Mikaeel earning 126 votes and Jayeola Busari winning with 187 votes.
AUDITOR
Odusanya M.V. emerged as the uncontested Auditor.
These election results reflect the diverse voices and preferences of the Millennium Housing Estate community members. The newly elected leadership is expected to work towards the betterment of the estate, addressing issues of development, infrastructure, and the overall welfare of the community.
The dissolution of the CDAs and subsequent elections represent a significant step in redefining community governance structures within Lagos State, with an aim to promote inclusivity, transparency, and effective grassroots development.
