APC Inaugurates 92-Member Committee Ahead Of 2026 National Convention

Ahead of its national convention slated for next month, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 92-member National Convention Coordinating Committee with a mandate to deliver a transparent, inclusive and credible exercise.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) also set up 17 sub-committees to supervise key operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities to ensure a hitch-free convention.
The inauguration, held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, was presided over by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who described the exercise as a significant milestone in the party’s progressive journey.
The convention committee is chaired by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari. Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, and Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as vice chairmen. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, is designated Treasurer, while Yobe State Governor and former National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, will serve as Secretary.
Addressing the gathering, Ganduje said the convention would reaffirm the party’s democratic credentials and organisational strength, stressing that it would showcase the APC as a disciplined and forward-looking governing party.
He referenced the party’s recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers states as proof of its growing support base, urging committee members to set aside partisan interests and deliver a convention befitting of the ruling party.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Masari assured members that the 2026 National Convention would be peaceful, credible and transparent. He thanked the party leadership and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the committee, pledging that members would approach the assignment with diligence and strict adherence to the party’s constitution and guidelines.
Masari described the convention as more than a statutory requirement, calling it a defining moment for reflection, consolidation and renewed commitment to internal democracy and unity. He assured that the committee would work closely with the NWC and other party organs to ensure seamless coordination, emphasising discipline, inclusiveness and transparency.
Dignitaries at the inauguration included former National Chairmen, Bisi Akande and Abdullahi Adamu, as well as governors of Imo, Kwara, Niger, Benue, Delta, Yobe, Ogun and Edo states. Also present were former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shuaibu; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu; and Hon. James Faleke, among others.
