We Did Everything Humanly Possible To Save Ogogo, Says Yayi

Solomon Adeola, the senator representing Ogun West, says everything humanly possible was done to save Taiwo Hassan, the Nollywood actor popularly known as ‘Ogogo’, from death.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, disclosed this in a condolence statement following the death of the actor on Sunday at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer, and he was laid to rest on Monday.

Adeola said Ogogo’s death was particularly painful after the actor’s prolonged illness and the collective efforts to support his treatment.

“We remained hopeful and prayerful that he would overcome the illness and return to the family, friends and countless admirers who cherished him. Sadly, despite all efforts, it has pleased Almighty God to call him home. Indeed, God knows best,” the senator said.

Adeola said Ogogo was more than an accomplished veteran of the entertainment industry; he was a dear brother and a proud son of Ilaro in Ogun State.

He said the actor’s career brought joy to generations and contributed to the growth and development of the Nigerian film industry.

“His talent, humility and enduring body of work will ensure that his memory lives on,” he said.

Adeola extended his condolences to Ogogo’s wife, children and entire family, as well as the people of Yewaland and Ogun State, his colleagues and associates in the entertainment industry.

He also acknowledged the people whose lives were touched by the late actor.

“We share in their grief over this sad and irreplaceable loss,” the senator said.

Adeola prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy for the late actor and asked God to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
