Abiodun Confirms Rescue Of Abducted Gateway Polytechnic Students, Vows Crackdown On Kidnappers

Governor Dapo Abiodun has confirmed the successful rescue of the seven victims abducted during the recent kidnapping incident involving students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ogun State.

The governor, in a statement, expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, describing the development as a major success in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and strengthen public safety.

Abiodun said the successful operation was made possible through decisive leadership, effective intelligence sharing, seamless inter-agency collaboration, and sustained security operations.

According to him, immediately the incident was reported, the state government mobilised relevant security agencies and reinforced the rescue efforts with aerial surveillance to complement intensive ground operations.

“The safety and security of our people remain the foundation upon which our vision for a prosperous Ogun State rests. Without security, our people cannot live, work, invest, and pursue their aspirations with confidence,” the governor said.

He commended the professionalism and bravery of the security personnel who participated in the operation, while also acknowledging the contributions of traditional rulers, community leaders, vigilantes, local hunters, and residents whose timely intelligence aided the rescue mission.

Abiodun, however, stressed that the operation was far from over, noting that security agencies were continuing efforts to apprehend all those involved in the abduction and dismantle the criminal networks responsible for such acts.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to further strengthen Ogun State’s security architecture and warned criminal elements that there would be no hiding place for them anywhere in the state.

The governor assured residents that his government would continue working with security agencies and other stakeholders to protect lives and property, preserve peace, and maintain Ogun State’s reputation as a secure destination for residents, visitors, businesses, and investors.
