Ondo Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Suspect After Relentless Pursuit In Akure

Police operatives in Ondo State foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Oba-Ile axis of Akure on Tuesday, rescuing a male victim and arresting one suspect following a high-speed pursuit that ended with the victim being thrown from a moving vehicle.

The victim, identified as Kayode Alaba, was abducted from his residence along Irese Road, Akure, according to preliminary investigations. Officers on routine patrol received intelligence about a red Toyota Camry whose occupant was heard shouting for help, prompting an immediate mobilization.

During the ensuing chase, the suspects forcibly ejected Alaba from the vehicle in an apparent bid to evade capture. Police continued the pursuit and apprehended one suspect, Adegbenro Adeola. Other members of the syndicate remain at large, and the vehicle has been recovered.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal praised the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved, stating that the command remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

The victim is receiving medical attention, and the case has been transferred to the Violence Crime Response Unit in Akure for further investigation. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, actionable information to assist in the fight against violent crime.
