Police Storm Cult Hideout In Ondo, Arrest Two Kingpins
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected cult leaders and uncovered a hideout in Ondo Town, following a targeted operation against the Eiye and Aiye confraternities.
Acting on intelligence from a community vigilante group, operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS) apprehended Nnamdi Sunday and Adegbuyi Seyi on April 11, 2026. The suspects are believed to have taken part in a violent confrontation between rival cult groups three days earlier at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, which disrupted public peace and safety.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the suspects cooperated with investigators and led officers to an Aiye cult hideout at the Oka Garage area of Ondo Town. A search of the premises yielded one locally made English pistol, suspected to have been used in criminal operations.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said the command would not relent in its efforts to dismantle cult networks across the state.

“Perpetrators of violence will be identified, arrested, and made to face the full weight of the law,” Mr Lawal was quoted as saying.
The commissioner also commended the Ondo End Miscreant Group for providing timely and actionable intelligence, urging residents to emulate such civic responsibility.
Mr Lawal expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his strategic guidance and morale support, noting that the IGP’s previous service in Ondo State had continued to inspire officers in the command.
The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to track fleeing members and recover more weapons. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the command’s designated channels.
