Zamfara Governor Attends Strategic Governance Workshop At Coventry University

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, is set to participate in a high-level workshop on strategic governance and resilience at Coventry University in the United Kingdom as part of efforts to strengthen governance and institutional capacity in the state.

The two-day workshop, scheduled for March 30 and 31, 2026, is organised by the Centre for Resilient Business and Society and supported under the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) Institutional Support framework.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the engagement reflects the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to adopting research-driven approaches to governance, resilience, and societal development.

Idris disclosed that Governor Lawal would be joined by a high-level delegation, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, and the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA).

He noted that the workshop would bring together global scholars, policymakers, and governance experts to examine strategies for building resilient institutions and addressing societal challenges through data-driven and research-based solutions.

Key sessions at the workshop will focus on resilient leadership in resource-constrained environments, financial resilience, public sector innovation, managing change, and the ethical use of data in governance.

As part of the programme, Governor Lawal and his delegation are also expected to engage postgraduate researchers in an interactive session themed, “The Role of Research in Policymaking: Driving Strategic and Resilient Governance – Lessons from the Six-Point Rescue Agenda.”

The session, according to the statement, will provide a platform for discussions on how research can be effectively translated into policy decisions, while drawing practical insights from Zamfara State’s Six-Point Rescue Agenda.

The government said the state’s participation underscores its determination to integrate research and data into governance processes, particularly in advancing priorities such as security, peacebuilding, agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
