Dauda Lawal Bags Leadership Newspaper Governor Of The Year Award
The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding public trust and delivering measurable progress across the state. He made this known as he received the Leadership Newspaper Governor of the Year Award on Thursday, February 12, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The honour was conferred at the newspaper’s annual conference and awards ceremony, an event designed to recognise outstanding individuals whose contributions have earned national acclaim. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the awards were described as a celebration of exemplary leadership and impactful achievements across key sectors of national life.
The conference drew an array of distinguished personalities, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr. Amina Mohammed, who delivered the keynote address. Speaking on the theme, Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria, she stressed the urgent need for visionary and resilient governance to confront emerging global and domestic challenges.
While presenting the award, Leadership Newspaper commended Governor Lawal’s courageous leadership and reform-driven agenda, noting that his administration has set Zamfara on a renewed trajectory of peace, stability and sustainable development. The organisers highlighted his bold interventions and strategic initiatives aimed at repositioning the state for long-term growth.
The recognition underscores the administration’s efforts in strengthening security, revitalising infrastructure, and stimulating economic activity, alongside broader reforms designed to improve service delivery and restore confidence in governance. According to the citation, Governor Lawal’s performance reflects diligence, foresight and an abiding commitment to the welfare of the people of Zamfara State.
The latest honour comes barely two weeks after he was named Governor of the Year by The Sun Newspaper at a ceremony held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos. Taken together, the awards signal increasing national recognition of the reforms and transformation underway in Zamfara under his leadership.
