Sagamu LG Approves Land Ratification For Oke Aredi Occupants
Sagamu Local Government has approved a land ratification process for occupants of Oke Aredi Community following an engagement with residents and members of the Land Advisory Committee.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, brought together representatives of the Precious Community Development Association, officials of the Sagamu Local Government, and members of the Land Advisory Committee led by its Chairman, Bashorun Awosanya Adebayo.

During the meeting, the occupants acknowledged that the land they currently occupy belongs to Sagamu Local Government, based on confirmation from the Ogun State Ministry of Lands, Housing, Survey and Urban Development in Abeokuta. The residents consequently appealed to the Local Government to consider lawful options for regularizing their stay on the land.
Addressing the meeting, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Odulate, said his administration remains committed to a humane approach to governance while protecting public assets. He noted that although the Local Government has no plans to demolish existing structures, it must also uphold its responsibility to safeguard government property.

Odulate expressed satisfaction with the dialogue and assured the occupants that the matter would be resolved amicably. He said the Local Government was willing to adopt a fair and lawful approach that balances public interest with the welfare of residents.
As a result of the engagement, the Local Government approved a land ratification process for the occupants. Beneficiaries who successfully complete the process will be issued Customary Rights of Occupancy certificates.
Speaking on behalf of the occupants, Mrs. Adenuga commended the Sagamu Local Government and the Land Advisory Committee for their understanding and consideration. She also praised the Executive Chairman for what she described as his fatherly disposition and leadership in handling the matter.

Sagamu Local Government reiterated its commitment to dialogue, fairness, and the protection of public assets, while ensuring the welfare of residents across the local government area.
