Sagamu LG Celebrates Ogun’s 50 Years With Development Push

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government has expressed pride and gratitude as Ogun State marked its 50th anniversary, describing the golden jubilee as a celebration of resilience, progress, and the enduring spirit of the people of the state.

Speaking as part of activities commemorating the milestone, the council boss noted that Sagamu Local Government remains proud to be an integral part of Ogun State’s development journey over the past five decades. He highlighted Sagamu’s rich cultural heritage and its significant contributions to commerce, education, and human capital development, which he said have positioned the local government as a key driver of growth within the state.

According to him, Sagamu has evolved into the industrial hub of the Gateway State, a status further strengthened by ongoing infrastructural development under the present administration’s Building Our Future Together agenda. He listed several road reconstruction projects undertaken by the local government, including Cinema Road, Sawmill Road, Sode Road, Awosanya Road, and Ajaka Road. He added that reconstruction work on the Executive Chairman’s Office is currently ongoing, while Radelu Road has received approval for reconstruction.

The chairman described it as a privilege to be serving as the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government at a time when Ogun State is celebrating 50 years of existence. He commended the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his support and visionary leadership, which he said has made several developmental achievements possible across the state.

He also expressed appreciation to the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, CFR, and members of the Remo Traditional Council for their continued guidance and support, as well as past council chairmen, commissioners, members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, and other political appointees whose contributions have shaped the growth of Sagamu Local Government.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to development, the chairman stated that Sagamu would continue to play its role in building an Ogun State that future generations would be proud to inherit.

Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976, and the 50th anniversary celebrations featured various activities across the state to reflect on its history and chart a course for the future.
