President Tinubu Capable Of Confronting Security Challenges, Says PCC
The Lagos State chapter of the Presidential Coalition Committee (PCC) has reaffirmed its confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s capacity to address Nigeria’s current security concerns, despite the recent designation of the country as a “Country of Particular Concern” by the United States Government.
The position was made known by Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, a senior figure in the Lagos PCC, who said the development, alongside recent security incidents in some parts of the country, represents a significant test of leadership. He stressed, however, that President Tinubu is fully equipped to confront and overcome the challenge.
Enilolobo noted that national security remains central to the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda. He recalled that during the 2023 presidential campaign, Tinubu made a firm commitment to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. According to him, the reforms already introduced across the nation’s security architecture show the President’s seriousness and readiness to deliver on that promise.
Highlighting the President’s record in Lagos State, Enilolobo explained that Tinubu inherited deep-rooted security problems as governor but successfully restored safety through intelligence-driven operations, institutional reforms and deliberate strategy. He said this same thoughtful, courageous and coordinated approach is now guiding security efforts at the national level.

He described President Tinubu as a leader who prioritises decisive action over public showmanship, stressing that the President considers the protection of life a sacred responsibility and will not tolerate its violation without consequences.
Enilolobo pointed to several measures already being implemented nationwide, including expanded police recruitment to improve manpower, greater financial support to states and local governments, renewed international security cooperation, enhanced investment in surveillance and intelligence technologies, and ongoing clearance operations in northern regions. He also cited the establishment of Forest and Border Guards, sustained implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative and reforms aimed at improving military procurement processes.
He urged Nigerians to remain united, vigilant and supportive of security agencies. Enilolobo appealed to citizens to report suspicious activities and refrain from narratives that stereotype or demonise entire ethnic or religious groups. He noted that criminals, including terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, land grabbers and illegal miners, often operate within communities and can be defeated with stronger civic cooperation.
Enilolobo emphasised that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and long-standing culture of peaceful coexistence, urging citizens to remain steadfast as the country works through its security challenges.
